Lea works regularly with composers and artists of all mediums in both R+D and Performance to create new works that reflect the world we live in, uplift unheard voices, and spark conversations.
Lea is a skilled improvisor and a specialist in contemporary repertoire, including Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire and Maxwell Davies’ The Medium.
She collaborated with mixed media artist Jasmina Cibic as part of the living installation An Atmosphere of Joyful Contemplation at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, and with artist Mhairi Killin and composer Fergus Hall in On Sonorous Seas at An Tober on the isle of Mull and the North Beach on Iona, Taigh Chearsabhagh on the isle of Uist, and the Glasgow School of Art. In 2026, Lea launched her new commissions series And When The Light Returned I, Transfigured, Awoke, working with composers Fergus Hall, Rylan Gleave, and Sonia Killman to create new works for voice and piano that explore the themes of folklore, ecology, and identity. Lea also composed her own piece for this series.
In 2026 she also premiered Romarna Campbell’s The Quiet Rebellion Continues, as part of Birmingham Opera Company’s Re-Wire.
In Research and development, she has played a pivotal role working with artists Renell Shaw, Stuart MacRae, and Missy Mazzoli to create new works, and premieres the role of Erin in Mazzoli’s The Galloping Cure in August 2026 at the Edinburgh International Festival.
